The jet was developed by Alenia Aermacchi and was rebranded as Leonardo in 2017. According to reporting by <a href=\"https:\/\/theaviationist.com\/2024\/12\/28\/austria-announces-acquisition-m-346fa\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" >The Aviationist<\/a>, the contract is worth around $1 billion.
