{"id":161859,"date":"2024-12-27T12:44:05","date_gmt":"2024-12-27T02:44:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=161859"},"modified":"2024-12-27T12:44:43","modified_gmt":"2024-12-27T02:44:43","slug":"victorian-western-railway-line-reopens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=161859","title":{"rendered":"Victorian Western Railway Line Reopens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After being closed due to fires in Western Victoria the standard gauge line between Geelong and South Australia has been reopened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last evening trains were halted due to evacuations around Maroona (the fire did not get anywhere near the rail line) leaving several freight trains stranded on the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>5MP1 was held at Berrybank and is now moving again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7PM5 has begun moving east and has passed Maroona enroute to Melbourne.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1PM5 is still waiting at Dimboola<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3PM7 is still at Nhill.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Overland Passenger train has been cancelled for today.  The Great Southern had to be rerouted via Broken Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wonder how necessary it was to close the line?
