CARGOUNIT has signed a framework contract with Siemens Mobility for up to 90 Vectron MS locomotives. In an initial order, the Polish locomotive easing company has drawn down 30 locomotives, which are due for delivery from 2025 onwards.<\/p>\n
Separately, Cargounit has signed a second contract with Siemens for 10 Smartron locomotives, which will be delivered to a similar timescale.<\/p>\n
The Vectron MS locomotives have a power output of 6.4MW when operating in ac mode and 6.0MW in dc and will be delivered with ETCS Baseline 3 onboard equipment installed.<\/p>\n
Cargounit plans to deploy the new Vectron MS locomotives in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Bulgaria and Belgium. The Smartron locomotives will operate in Germany, Bulgaria and Romania.<\/p>\n
This is the latest of several locomotive orders placed by Cargounit with Siemens and will bring the Cargounit fleet to 66 Vectrons and 16 Smartrons.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the past three years, we have significantly exceeded our original goals for purchasing and delivering state-of-the-art locomotives to customers in Poland, including multi-system locomotives,\u201d says Cargounit CEO, Mr \u0141ukasz Boro\u0144.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the coming years, we plan to continue replacing older units with highly reliable, low-emission locomotives in line with the strategy of Cargounit and operators to increase sustainability in the rail sector.\u201d<\/p>\n
