Depot control and signalling specialist Fenix Rail Systems<\/a> has completed the final commissioning of Gosforth train depot\u2019s new control system. It carried out the work for client VolkerFitzpatrick<\/a>, on behalf of Stadler<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The modern and cost-effective train control interlocking utilises state of the art technology to control train movements within the redeveloped, \u00a370 million train facility.<\/p>\n

Designed for Tyne & Wear Metro\u2019s<\/a> new fleet, the 12-acre depot features<\/a> inspection pits and roads, a wash plant, and a dedicated wheel lathe building. It will play host to a range of activities, including corrective and preventative maintenance and train presentation. <\/p>\n

Fenix Rail Systems thanked its team, as well as supply chain partners VolkerFitzpatrick and Stadler, after completing the commissioning on time. The project follows several years of work by the firm to develop new integration techniques and build its specialist knowledge around train facility control. <\/p>\n

The Gosforth comissioning project was supported by Fenix Rail Systems\u2019 in-house design team, alongside partners Technotrack Engineering Limited, Global Rail, Marco Lombardelli, SWGR, and MPI Ltd. <\/p>\n

The new depot (which was built on the site of an existing 100-year-old facility) is expected to transform metro train maintenance in the region. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
