{"id":16050,"date":"2024-02-29T09:37:27","date_gmt":"2024-02-28T23:37:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=16050"},"modified":"2024-02-29T09:37:27","modified_gmt":"2024-02-28T23:37:27","slug":"northern-employee-shortlisted-for-young-rail-professional-of-the-year-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=16050","title":{"rendered":"Northern employee shortlisted for Young Rail Professional of the Year award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A \u201cfantastic role model\u201d who created an innovative app after joining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northernrailway.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northern<\/a> as a graduate has been shortlisted for a coveted industry award. <\/p>\n<p>26-year-old Sebastian Chromiak, who lives in Didsbury, Manchester, is one of eight finalists in the running for the Young Rail Professional of the Year award.<\/p>\n<p>At a ceremony hosted by the not-for-profit organisation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youngrailpro.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Young Rail Professionals<\/a> next month, the award will be presented to the nominee deemed to have made an outstanding contribution to the rail industry over the last 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>Sebastian was promoted to Train Presentation Regional Manager for Northern\u2019s East Region last summer and currently manages a team of around 200 operatives who ensure services are clean for customers.<\/p>\n<p>After joining the company as a graduate in 2022, he developed an industry-leading app that provides staff with a real-time record of when trains were last cleaned so they can efficiently prioritise those which are most in need of attention.<\/p>\n<p>He has also been praised by colleagues for his work on a series of complex engineering and maintenance projects, his ability to build productive working relationships and his enthusiasm and commitment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a big surprise to be nominated and it\u2019s nice to be recognised,\u201d said Sebastian.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLooking at the nominees, there\u2019s no one else from a train operating company so it\u2019s good to represent one.
