Melbourne teenager Bianca Jones has died in hospital after falling victim to a mass methanol poisoning in Laos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 19-year-old was travelling with her best friend Holly Bowles when the pair fell desperately ill after consuming cocktails laced with the toxic chemical on Tuesday November 12. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both girls were rushed to separate hospitals in neighbouring Thailand, where they have been on life support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Jones’ parents confirmed on Thursday their daughter did not survive the poisoning.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cIt is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news that our beloved daughter and sister, Bianca Jones, has passed away,\u201d the parents said in a statement to The Herald Sun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe was surrounded by love, and we are comforted by the knowledge that her incredible spirit touched so many lives during her time with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to express our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming support, love, and prayers we\u2019ve received from across Australia.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Jones is the fourth person to lose their life in the mass methanol poisoning incident.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Danish government confirmed on Wednesday that two of its citizens, both young women in their 20s had died, while a 28-year-old British woman was confirmed as the third victim on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Jones and Ms Bowles travelling in southeast Asia while on university break, having graduated from Mentone Girls’ Grammar and Beaumaris Secondary College last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Jones’ family previously described the trip as a “dream getaway” for the girls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
