Government has released the early designs for a brand-new station in Melbourne\u2019s west \u2013 making it easier for commuters to catch the train in the booming suburb of Tarneit.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span id=\"more-117964\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Minister for Transport Infrastructure Danny Pearson announced Tarneit\u2019s new yet-to-be-named station will be located near Davis and Leakes roads and will include two platforms with an accessible pedestrian underpass for crossing the rail line.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The new station will feature a four-bay bus interchange, and a new road will be built off Leakes Road \u2013 providing access to 400 new car parks for local commuters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Separated pedestrian and cycling paths will also be built as part of the precinct \u2013 along with a landscaped area with seating and secure bike storage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cWe are getting on with delivering more transport connections in Melbourne\u2019s growing west \u2013 with the new Tarneit station set to help people get to where they need to go,\u201d Pearson said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cTarneit\u2019s second station will ensure locals in Melbourne\u2019s west stay connected \u2013 with more train services set to reach their doorstep.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117966\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117966\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a lang=\"EN-US\">Final designs will be released and construction is set to commence next year \u2013 with the new station expected to take passengers in 2026.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The local community are now encouraged to have their say on naming the new station, with names being considered including West Tarneit, Tarneit Rise, Sunray, Davis Creek and Melaleuca stations \u2013 reflecting local landmarks and the environment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Locals can have their say on the designs of the new station and provide feedback on the station name at <a href=\"https:\/\/engage.vic.gov.au\/\">engage.vic.gov.au<\/a>. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">A planning study is also underway for a new station at Truganina, which will boost transport options in the western suburbs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">This project follows the removal of three level crossings in Deer Park and Ardeer, which has made the line boom gate free between Deer Park and the city \u2013 reducing congestion and improving safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Also in Melbourne\u2019s west, work is about to start on the removal of four level crossings on the Melton Line and building a new Melton Station by 2026, while planning continues on the $650 million Melton Line Upgrade, which will increase capacity on the line by 50 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The post <a
