After only four months from its launch, the rolling highway service between Valencia and Madrid is now unavailable due to the disastrous wave of extreme weather that hit the Spanish east coast. It now seems that reinstating traffic along this axis might take until next month. This also means that the planned increase in frequency will have to wait.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The Valencian Community has been hit with an isolated depression at high-levels (DANA in Spanish) which has already caused hundreds of deaths and unprecedented damages. The rail infrastructure in the Valencia area was not spared either, leaving the port somewhat isolated. If the line to Madrid is still unavailable, connections to Tarragona, Zaragoza and Barcelona are now once again possible, albeit with some restrictions.<\/p>\n

The situation is even worse for Valencia\u2019s local network (Cercan\u00edas), which is also used by freight trains. More specifically, there is no estimated reopening date for the C1, C2 and C3 lines of the Cercanias network. The C5 and C6 lines have now been reopened exclusively for rail freight or infrastructure maintenance trains. Cleanup and repair works keep going on, as the Spanish Ministry of Transport Oscar Puente said on X, with the port of Valencia slowly picking its pace back up.<\/p>\n
