The study regarding a possible new terminal in Uxes, moreover, will inquire on the possibility of deviating there the traffic coming from the A Coruña-San Diego terminal, located near the city’s inner port and an important rail freight hub. The studies, worth almost 700,000 euros combined, will be led by engineering firm Ineco.

Big changes ahead for the A Coruña port

The port of A Coruña, a core node for the Spanish section of the TEN-T Atlantic Corridor, has been undergoing significant changes over the past couple of decades, with the construction of the so-called Outer Port, located further from the city centre. For this project, the Spanish infrastructure manager Adif is investing 123.6 million euros to bring rail to the heart of the new facility. “The creation of these infrastructures responds to the ministry’s objective of promoting rail freight traffic and intermodality with maritime traffic”, the Spanish ministry stated.

In pruple, the railway line and the terminal proposed in the studies.
