The Spanish government authorised the signing of a tripartite agreement to start construction of the new southern rail entrance to the port of Barcelona. The actual signature will take place on 15 November and will seal the deal on how much each party is investing to cover the 730 million euros necessary.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The project involves the Spanish Ministry of Transport, infrastructure manager Adif, and the Barcelona Port Authority. The Ministry will invest 263.8 million euros, Adif will pitch in with 266.34 million euros, while the Barcelona Port Authority will cover the last 200 million. New railway infrastructure will be developed to connect the Can Tunis terminal and the L\u2019Hospitalet-Can Tunis section to the port.<\/p>\n

The first steps towards creating a new southern rail access to the port of Barcelona were taken in November 2023. Back then, the Spanish Ministry of Transport put out tenders for over 12 million euros to draft the projects. The first one was assigned in June to a joint venture made up of Esteyco, Geocontrol and Saitec. For the second one, procedures are being finalised, the Ministry claimed.<\/p>\n
