world\u2019s most beautiful stations with a nomination in the prestigious\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/news\/level-crossing-removal-project\/prestons-bell-of-the-ball\"  rel=\"noopener\" data-testid=\"link-with-safety\" data-renderer-mark=\"true\"><u data-renderer-mark=\"true\">Prix Versailles world architecture and design award<\/u><\/a>, Bell station has welcomed its next crowning glory \u2013 a striking sculpture by local artist Lisa Waup.<\/strong><span id=\"more-117726\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"352\">Standing more than 2 metres tall,\u00a0<em data-renderer-mark=\"true\">Embedded Memory<\/em>\u00a0is made of Corten steel composed of intricate lines that mirror a thumbprint.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"484\">\u201cThis work begins with and acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung People, the traditional custodians of this land and their unwavering ties to Country, waterways, community, and culture,\u201d Waup said.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"686\">Waup was born in Preston and sees Bell Station as a canvas for connection; a place that brings its community together and provides places to be and to connect.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"848\">\u201cThrough this piece, I want to boldly underscore the significance of the Wurundjeri, of ancestors, the past, present and future,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"990\">\u201cWithin these lines, the memory of the landscape resides \u2013 the rivers that have shaped this place.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"1091\">\u201cThese rivers, like threads, have woven the fabric of community, connecting paths and generations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"1193\"><em data-renderer-mark=\"true\">Embedded Memory<\/em>\u00a0was manufactured by Sculpture Co in Sunshine and has been installed in the grassed area in front of Bell Station.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"1325\">The station design reflects Preston\u2019s rich history with post-war roof tops, and references to the local art and culture scene.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"1454\">Aspects from each can be seen in the station fa\u00e7ade with local roofscapes abstracted into a three-dimensional pattern and the pink and purple coloured glazing.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"1616\">It also included upgraded and modern facilities, elevated platforms with seating protected from Melbourne\u2019s weather, lifts and stairs to make it easier for everyone to catch the train and more spaces to securely lock bikes.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"1842\">The new Bell Station was built as part of works to remove the dangerous and congested level crossings at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/projects\/level-crossing-removal-project\/projects\/oakover-road-preston\"  rel=\"noopener\">Oakover Road<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/projects\/level-crossing-removal-project\/projects\/bell-street-preston\"  rel=\"noopener\">Bell Street<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/projects\/level-crossing-removal-project\/projects\/cramer-street-preston\"  rel=\"noopener\">Cramer Street<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/projects\/level-crossing-removal-project\/projects\/murray-road-preston\"  rel=\"noopener\">Murray Road<\/a>\u00a0in Preston in 2022, by elevating the Mernda Line over the roads.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"2071\">A shared walking and cycling path from Oakover Road through to Murray Road connects locals to the new Bell and Preston stations and open
