The Polish Gdynia port has had its rail infrastructure renovated and expanded, increasing its capacity fivefold. Among other things, the port can now handle 740-metre trains and has electrified access points. For Budimex, the construction company who carried out the upgrades, it was the largest rail project ever.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>\u201cWe have built the largest railway infrastructure project in the history of Budimex, consisting of as many as 39 tracks,\u201d emphasised a company representative. Besides facilitating 740-metre trains and electrifying port access infrastructure, the 441,9 million euro project renovated 115 kilometres of tracks, built a railway bridge and 25 rail-road crossings. PKP Cargo also got a new office building as part of the works.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe modernisation of the railway junction has increased its capacity almost fivefold, which opens up new opportunities for investors and transport companies. We are strengthening strategic transport connections, which will contribute to improving the competitiveness of Polish ports on the international market,” a Budimex representative said.<\/p>\n
