A homemade statue of infamous Australian Olympian<\/a> Rachael \u2018Raygun\u2019 Gunn has been erected in a Melbourne<\/a> suburb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The life-sized sculpture of Raygun<\/a> has been spotted in Northcote, performing the signature \u201ckangaroo\u201d move that became the subject of so much ridicule during and after the Paris Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tribute was first revealed by a caller to 3AW on Wednesday morning.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFollowing on from her huge success of breakdancing in Paris, Raygun is now dancing in the streets of the north,\u201d the caller said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking at the photo of the statue, 3AW host Ross Stevenson was impressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat is amazing, that is awesome! Someone\u2019s put up a statue of Raygun,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIs that in someone\u2019s backyard or in a public thoroughfare?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

The caller responded: \u201cIt\u2019s in a public thoroughfare, on the nature strip.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stevenson added: \u201cThat is outstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLook at the balance they\u2019ve managed to achieve there with that statue. How do you do that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the day she returned home to Australia with her Olympic<\/a> bag in tow, Raygun emerged as the new world No.1 breaker in an unexpected post-script to her last-place finish in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 37-year-old\u2019s life has changed dramatically since her performance divided the world, with the academic spotted dining out with popstar Boy George and rubbing shoulders with Sir Richard Branson<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But as she landed back in Sydney with her husband Samuel in September, ready to return to a level of normality, the World DanceSport Federation catapulted Raygun into top spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raygun appears as No.1 in the official WDSF world rankings for professional breakers for September.<\/p>\n\n\n

Olympic gold medallist Ami \u201cAmi\u201d Yuasa was missing, as were Dominika \u201cNicka\u201d Banevic and Liu \u201c671\u201d Qingyi after they won silver and bronze respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several other Olympic competitors were ranked below Raygun, who finished 16th in Paris ahead of only a disqualified competitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raygun infamously failed to score a single point in her three battles at the Olympics against Nicka, Sya \u201cSyssy\u201d Dembele and Logan \u201cLogistx\u201d Edra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Syssy also features in the WDSF rankings, sitting 12th, as one of a handful of Olympic competitors in the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine\u2019s Anna \u201cStefani\u201d Ponomarenko sits third in the rankings despite finishing ninth at the Olympics, with compatriot Kateryna \u201cKate\u201d Pavlenko ranked 17th after finishing sixth in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the men\u2019s side, Australian teenager Jeff \u201cJ Attack\u201d Dunne is ranked second by WDSF despite finishing 15th at the Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
