Rail Cargo Group (RCG), the freight subsidiary of Austria\u2019s state-owned rail operator \u00d6BB, is launching a new service between the Belgian port of Zeebrugge and Budapest.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The new service intends to enable intermodal freight flows between Zeebrugge and Budapest. On the one far end of the line, the Zeebrugge port has maritime connections to various destinations in the UK. \u201cIts strategic location enables fast and efficient transshipment of goods by sea\u201d, RCG explains.<\/p>\n

Gateway into southeastern Europe<\/h2>\n

On the other side of the line, the BILK terminal in Budapest functions as a gateway into southeastern Europe. \u201cIt is one of the most important hubs for rail freight transport in Central Europe and connects Eastern Europe with Western markets. It offers extensive capacity and modern infrastructure for handling container traffic\u201d, RCG says. The BILK terminal also has further connections to and from Turkey.<\/p>\n

The new service will offer three round trips per week. RCG highlights that the route will be available to all craneable loading units, including 20, 30, 40 and 45-feet containers as well as 25 and 45-feet swap bodies. Dangerous goods can also be transported, says RCG.<\/p>\n
