{"id":13957,"date":"2024-02-22T10:36:35","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T00:36:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=13957"},"modified":"2024-02-22T10:36:35","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T00:36:35","slug":"orr-authorises-upgrades-at-reading-west-station-ahead-of-opening-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=13957","title":{"rendered":"ORR authorises upgrades at Reading West station ahead of opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"summary\">\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orr.gov.uk\/\">Office of Rail and Road (ORR)<\/a> has authorised upgrades at Reading West railway station, ahead of their entry into service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"body\">\n<p>The upgrades include a new station building with ticket office and ticket machines, with new signage, lighting, and CCTV throughout.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orr.gov.uk\/\">ORR\u2019s<\/a> authorisation confirms that the project has met standards covering health and safety, accessibility, environmental protection, technical compatibility, and reliability and availability.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.orr.gov.uk\/\">ORR<\/a> authorises new railway stations\u00a0like Reading West as part of its duty to authorise infrastructure and rolling stock that are new or have had a major upgrade or renewal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orr.gov.uk\/\">ORR<\/a> has worked with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gwr.com\/\">Great Western Railway<\/a> from the outset of the project to guide them through the authorisation process, ensuring that important checks and surveys are carried out.<\/p>\n<p>Figures published by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orr.gov.uk\/\">ORR<\/a> show that over 280,000 people used the station between April 2022 and March 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Fletcher, Deputy Director for Civil Engineering and Asset Management at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orr.gov.uk\/\">ORR<\/a>, said:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re pleased to have played our part in getting Reading West\u2019s upgrades ready to open.
