The Port of Rotterdam will get new rail infrastructure, consisting of a bundle of six tracks suitable for 740-metre trains. The new tracks will be built at the Maasvlakte, at the far western side of the port. Construction partner Swietelsky plans to finish the project by mid-2027.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The infrastructure expansion is necessary to enable rail freight transport growth from the port into the European hinterland, says the Port of Rotterdam. It is supposed to mitigate capacity bottlenecks.<\/p>\n

\u201cA reliable and competitive rail freight product is indispensable for Rotterdam\u2019s position in the European hinterland. Container throughput at the Port of Rotterdam is set to grow steadily over the coming years\u201d, the Port of Rotterdam says.<\/p>\n
