The new tracks will be built at the Maasvlakte, at the far western side of the port. Construction partner Swietelsky plans to finish the project by mid-2027.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-56838\"><\/span>The infrastructure expansion is necessary to enable rail freight transport growth from the port into the European hinterland, says the Port of Rotterdam. It is supposed to mitigate capacity bottlenecks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA reliable and competitive rail freight product is indispensable for Rotterdam\u2019s position in the European hinterland.
