The Allan and Albanese Labor Governments today announced a $63.5 million investment to kickstart plans to rebuild Sunshine Station \u2013 a transport hub with more services, connecting Airport Rail link & Victoria.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This is of concern to many as the last time the station was rebuilt for a considerable sum of money no standard gauge platform was included which was a MAJOR oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both governments have each committed $5 billion to the Melbourne Airport Rail Link, and upgrading Sunshine Station is the critical first part of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the commitment to deliver the Melbourne Airport Rail Link, a $63.5 million investment will begin plans to rebuild Sunshine Station, which will also unlock capacity for future upgrades in the west.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Sunshine Station will include additional platforms, while track and bridge works and signalling improvements will untangle this complex junction which services both freight, and more than 70 per cent of V\/Line\u2019s network \u2013 including the Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This sounds more like another disaster in the making what is so bad about the current configuration?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Clearly more lies as V\/Line trains do not go anywhere near the Freight tracks.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The major upgrade will increase capacity for additional services from Wyndham Vale and allow for future electrified trains to run from Melton. It will also enable six trains per hour to the airport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development works will be delivered alongside the Victorian Government\u2019s $143 million Sunshine Station Precinct Masterplan upgrade which includes a new bus interchange and pedestrian connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebuilding Sunshine Station to accommodate for services to the airport, as well as future upgrades of the network including the Melton electrification, will save time, costs and a huge amount of disruption for locals, businesses and commuters. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Will we see the same bloody mindedness from the government when it comes to providing the Victorian Taxpayer with railway stations they actually need not what a few highly paid public servants think we need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
