As part of its effort to find replacement jobs for workers to be fired otherwise, PKP Cargo has signed two more agreements for the transfer of its employees. Locomotive manufacturer Stadler and infrastructure construction company Budimex will expand their staff with 150 people coming over from the Polish rail freight operator.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>Stadler will be taking on 50 employees from PKP Cargo, and Budimex will take in the remaining 100. The two new agreements bring the total counter of employee transfer deals to 13, as a consequence of which at least 2,000 workers will get a new job. PKP Cargo earlier announced that it would have to lay off at least 4,000 employees following a severe financial downturn.<\/p>\n

Bold decisions<\/h2>\n

\u201cThe situation in the company is unfortunately very difficult and requires us to make bold but difficult decisions\u201d, acting board director Marcin Wojew\u00f3dka explains. \u201cThe previous management boards, with their poor management, led to a drastic decline in PKP Cargo’s market share, which means that there is not enough work for all those currently employed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Consequently, PKP Cargo had to resort to restructuring proceedings and group layoffs. \u201cOver the past weeks, we have done everything to provide appropriate support to employees leaving the company\u201d, Wojew\u00f3dka says, referring to the transfer agreements. \u201cOur active efforts have allowed us to prepare over 2,000 jobs for our employees in other companies from the broadly understood transport industry throughout Poland.\u201d<\/p>\n
