Repairs of a broken track are completed at Sydney’s Central Station, but travellers are warned to expect ongoing delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sydney Trains posted a photo of a broken rail to its X account this morning, warning of delays across “various lines”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are travel alerts in place for the Inner West and Leppington line, Airport and South line, and Bankstown line.<\/p>\n\n\n

Transport for NSW rail operations director Jas Tumber told 2GB the repair operation was a complex one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Because it is a significant broken rail we are having to cut a section of the rail out and replace it this morning, which as you can imagine logistically is very complex to do whilst we’re still operating the network,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly before 11am, Transport for NSW sent out a notice that repairs on the T1 line at Central were complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Major delays continue across the Sydney rail network, so passengers should continue to allow extra travel time, listen to announcements and check information displays for service updates,” the Transport Management Centre said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Additionally, trains on the T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra line and South Coast line are also delayed due to an issue with a freight train at Sutherland earlier.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commuters earlier packed stations to the brim, with travellers unable to embark at Ashfield due to trains arriving packed.\ufeff<\/p>\n\n\n\n
