Norfolk Southern Corporation, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET), and the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers \u2013 Transportation Division (SMART-TD), along with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), signed an agreement Thursday to participate in the FRA\u2019s Confidential Close Call Reporting System (C3RS).<\/p>\n
The signing ceremony was held at the\u00a0Atlanta<\/span>\u00a0offices of the U.S. Department of Transportation. With attendees from Norfolk Southern, union, and FRA leadership, the ceremony officially kicked off the one-year partnership.<\/p>\n Norfolk Southern is the\u00a0only Class I railroad<\/a>\u00a0participant in the program, which\u00a0the company committed<\/a>\u00a0to in 2023. As part of the C3RS pilot program, covered Norfolk Southern employees can report safety concerns confidentially.<\/p>\n Railroaders at the company\u2019s\u00a0Atlanta<\/span>;\u00a0Elkhart, Indiana<\/span>; and\u00a0Roanoke, Virginia<\/span>\u00a0locations will participate in the pilot.
