margin:0 0 10px 10px;\"><figcaption>Image\/Victoria&#8217;s Big Build<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Freight capacity on the Yelta Line has received a boost with the extension of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/projects\/murray-basin-rail-project\/projects\/passing-loops\">passing loop at Emu<\/a> as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/projects\/murray-basin-rail-project\">Murray Basin Rail Project<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-117282\"><\/span>Freight operators will benefit from the extra 500 metres of track to extend the loop, making it long enough to allow two opposing 1,200-metre freight trains to pass each other.<\/p>\n<p>Signal activation works and safety testing, including the running of a train on the loop, were carried out recently to bring the loop into service.<\/p>\n<p>Long trains can now travel in either direction on the Yelta Line at the same time by using the loop located between Dunolly and St Arnaud.<\/p>\n<p>An average 800-metre intermodal freight train carries produce worth $2.25 million \u2013 equivalent to 55 semi-trailer truckloads.<\/p>\n<p>This latest boost to the network follows the opening of a new passing loop at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/elmhurst-loop-gives-murray-basin-rail-freight-a-boost\/\">Elmhurst<\/a> between Ararat and Maryborough.<\/p>\n<p>By enabling two opposing freight trains \u2013 for example, intermodal and bulk &#8211;
