Inland Rail will ramp up preparations at the Green St bridge and Wangaratta railway station ahead of the track possession in mid-September.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A 650-tonne Superlift crawler crane with a 66-metre lattice boom, and two supporting cranes have arrived on site to assemble and install the Green St bridge structure.<\/p>\n

Two 50-tonne main girders and 15 cross girders for the new bridge will be trucked to the site in the early hours of Tuesday, 3 September.<\/p>\n

The two main girders will be assembled with the cross girders and the bridge structure will be lifted into place during the track possession on Saturday 14 September.<\/p>\n

Inland Rail Delivery Director Beveridge to Albury<\/a> Ed Walker said in the next few weeks, the Wangaratta community will see some big changes in and around the station.<\/p>\n

\u201cA 650-tonne crane will be set-up onsite this week to assemble and install the Green St bridge structure,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main bridge girders are 32 metres long so it will take some planning to safely manoeuvre them through town and on to the site.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will set up some viewing sites for interested locals to watch the bridge being lifted in place during the possession.<\/p>\n
