{"id":115004,"date":"2024-08-26T14:43:52","date_gmt":"2024-08-26T04:43:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/?p=117221"},"modified":"2024-08-26T14:43:52","modified_gmt":"2024-08-26T04:43:52","slug":"queensland-rail-hits-back-with-a-targeted-blitz-on-graffiti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=115004","title":{"rendered":"Queensland Rail hits back with a targeted blitz on graffiti"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Brisbane-train.jpeg\" alt=\"\" style=\"float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;\"><figcaption>Image: makkuro kurosuke\/stock.adobe.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.queenslandrail.com.au\/\">Queensland Rail<\/a> is fighting back against graffiti, catching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/graffiti-costs-slashed-with-new-technologies\/\">vandals<\/a> on the rail network and ensuring teams are ready to swiftly erase tags from its fleet.<\/strong><span id=\"more-117221\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The rail operator has released CCTV footage of two recent arrests, which coincide with a concentrated cleaning blitz of defaced Queensland Rail trains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Queensland Rail Senior Manager Security Drew Brock said the shocking behaviour contributed to costing taxpayers around a million dollars a year and made no apologies for cracking down on the crime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cIn one incident the perpetrators brazenly attempted to deface a stabled train at Redbank, oblivious to the close and watchful eye of Queensland Rail\u2019s security team via CCTV who were coordinating a response,\u201d Brock said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cThat resulted in the group being caught red-handed by our partners in the Queensland Police Service (QPS).\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Another vandal was caught spray painting a train in broad daylight by customers and station staff and was then swiftly arrested at Kippa Ring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"position: relative; overflow: hidden; padding-bottom: 56.25%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"position: absolute;\" title=\"Graffiti Vnr (240p)\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.jwplayer.com\/players\/e5JoaWFB-4LPHrswT.html\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"auto\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cThese are criminals who evidently lack both common sense and respect for public property.
