Here\u2019s what to expect this month\u2026<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Swanage T3 back after 78 years to take top honour<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Swanage Railway-based team which restored former National Collection LSWR T3 4-4-0 No. 563 has taken a top accolade at the Heritage Railway Association Annual Awards 2024. The prestigious Chairman\u2019s Special Award, which is not handed out every year, went to the 563 Locomotive Group for the stunning results achieved in bringing a locomotive that had not steamed in more than 75 years back to life, with the help of the Flour Mill workshop. For a full round-up of the HRA 2024 awards evening, see issue 316 of <em>Heritage Railway<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Brighton tramway named Railway of the Year<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Volks Electric Railway has carried off the covered title of Railway of the Year at the Heritage Railway Association Annual Awards 2024. Judges were impressed by the authenticity, attention to detail and dedication to the unique history of\u00a0Brighton\u2019s\u00a0seafront line, the world\u2019s oldest-working electric railway, which was built in 1883. It is the first time that a railway with no steam traction at all in its history has won the top award.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Betton Grange<\/em> booked to headline Cotswold Festival<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>New-build GWR 4-6-0 No. 6880 <em>Betton Grange<\/em> has been booked as a star guest for the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway\u2019s award-winning Cotswold Festival of Steam. Subject to completion and successful running-in, and following earlier public appearances, No. 6880 \u2013 as portrayed in this painting by Malcolm Root GRA \u2013 will appear at the Cotswold line\u2019s May 25-27 popular bank holiday weekend event.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Back after 38 years: Nene Valley Danish delight!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A classic Danish locomotive which had not steamed for 38 years has made its comeback into traffic on the Nene Valley Railway.
