{"id":108687,"date":"2024-08-16T09:11:09","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T23:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/?p=117141"},"modified":"2024-08-16T09:11:09","modified_gmt":"2024-08-15T23:11:09","slug":"sydney-metro-opening-locked-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=108687","title":{"rendered":"Sydney Metro opening locked in"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Sydney-Metro.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;\"><figcaption>Image\/Sydney Metro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Minister for Transport Jo Haylen has confirmed that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sydneymetro.info\/citysouthwest\/project-overview\">Sydney Metro<\/a> City section will open for passengers on the 19th of August after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/sydney-metro-city-opening-delayed\/\">delay<\/a> earlier this month.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-117141\"><\/span>This city section of what will be known as the M1 Northwest &amp; Bankstown Line includes an additional 15.5-kilometres of metro rail extending the North West line from Chatswood, below the harbour and through the Sydney CBD, to Sydenham.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Haylen said that the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) had ticked off the project after it delayed the opening in early August.<\/p>\n<p>After several months of testing and trial runs, the line will begin taking passengers from Tuesday with stations receiving &#8216;touch ups&#8217; over the weekend to ensure they are ready to receive passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Sydney\u2019s new M1 line includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>45 metro trains and 445 new services a day;<\/li>\n<li>That\u2019s a train every four minutes in the peak, seven minutes during week days, between morning and afternoon peak services (gradually increasing over the first few months to a train every five minutes) and every 10 minutes during off peak and on weekends;<\/li>\n<li>Six fully accessible new stations at Crows Nest, Victoria Cross, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Gadigal and Waterloo, along with new platforms at Central and Sydenham;<\/li>\n<li>Simple interchanges with buses at all stations, ferries at Barangaroo, light rail at Central and with train services at Martin Place, Central and Sydenham;<\/li>\n<li>Uninterrupted network mobile coverage;<\/li>\n<li>Safe journeys monitored by a state-of-the-art control centre, with approx. 100 CCTV cameras at every station and 38 cameras inside each train;<\/li>\n<li>Over 600 secure bike parking spaces at Crows Nest, Victoria Cross, Waterloo and Sydenham, as part of 900 new bike parking spaces across all eight stations.<\/li>\n<li>Platform screen door technology to keep people and objects safely away from tracks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/sydney-metro-opening-locked-in\/\">Sydney Metro opening locked in<\/a> appeared first on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/\">Rail Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Sydney-Metro.jpg\" alt=\"\"><figcaption>Image\/Sydney Metro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Minister for Transport Jo Haylen has confirmed that the Sydney Metro City section will open for passengers on the 19th \u2026 <\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/sydney-metro-opening-locked-in\/\">Sydney Metro opening locked in<\/a> appeared first on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/\">Rail Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":1,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_uf_show_specific_survey":0,"_uf_disable_surveys":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[165,4353,2251,163],"tags":[10376],"class_list":["post-108687","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-industry-infrastructure","category-major-projects-infrastructure","category-nsw","category-rail-industry-news-australia-new-zealand","tag-rail-express"],"aioseo_notices":[],"aioseo_head":"\n\t\t<!-- All in One SEO Pro 4.9.8 -
