The Australian Olympic<\/a> Committee have released an explosive statement slamming the \u201cdisgraceful\u201d bullying of breakdancer Rachael \u2018Raygun\u2019 Gunn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A petition posted on change.org called for Raygun and Olympics chef de mission Anna Meares to be held accountable for \u201cunethical conduct\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petition, which raised a number of theories regarding the 36-year-old\u2019s selection, has since had 45,000 signatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It suggested Raygun \u201cset up her own governing body for breakdancing\u201d and \u201cmanipulated the selection process to her own advantage\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the majority of the theories mentioned were, in fact, false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AOC CEO Matt Carroll has written to change.org demanding the \u201cappalling\u201d petition be immediately withdrawn, calling it \u201cvexatious, misleading and bullying\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe AOC is particularly offended by the affront to our Chef de Mission, Anna Meares. The Australian Team Chef de Mission played no role in the qualification events nor the nomination of athletes to the AOC Selection Committee, of which the Chef and I are members,\u201d Carroll said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is disgraceful that these falsehoods concocted by an anonymous person can be published in this way. It amounts to bullying and harassment and is defamatory. We are demanding that it be removed from the site immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe petition has stirred up public hatred without any factual basis. It\u2019s appalling. No athlete who has represented their country at the Olympic Games should be treated in this way and we are supporting Dr Gunn and Anna Meares at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important that the community understands the facts and that people do not form opinions based on malicious untruths and misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
