{"id":10794,"date":"2024-02-13T02:36:43","date_gmt":"2024-02-12T16:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=10794"},"modified":"2024-02-13T02:36:43","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T16:36:43","slug":"office-of-transport-safety-investigations-qube-freight-train","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=10794","title":{"rendered":"Office of Transport Safety Investigations: Qube freight train"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.otsi.nsw.gov.au\/\">OTSI<\/a>\u00a0was conducting this investigation under the Commonwealth\u00a0Transport Safety Investigation Act 2003\u00a0on behalf of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atsb.gov.au\/\">Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB).\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As of 22 December 2023, the investigation into the derailment of <a href=\"https:\/\/theqube.com\/\">Qube<\/a> freight train 5WB7 at Casino, NSW on 17 March 2022 has been discontinued.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Report Findings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An axle in the rear part of train 5WB7 broke as the train entered Casino Yard, derailing the wagon.<\/p>\n<p>The rear four wagons derailed and became detached from the rest of the train. A further four wagons at the rear of the train were derailed after the train came to a stop. A significant amount of track and signal infrastructure was damaged within Casino yard, with no injuries recorded.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation concluded the derailment was due to a broken axle on the 55th wagon (RKPF30311).
