Tasmania Police has released details of a traffic operation at the weekend focused on railway crossings on the back of National Rail Safety Week last week \u2013 and they\u2019re not impressed with the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say 16 drivers were detected failing to stop at stop signs at rail crossings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, 14 were also nabbed for speeding and five for using a mobile phone while driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say if you are approaching a rail crossing, slow down, approach with caution and obey all signs, including stop signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last week asRail revealed railway crossing failure to stop or give way by road users has risen from 39 reports in 2022-23, to 69 for the same period this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The North-West Coast has the worst record, with 42 of the 69 cases reported occurring on the Coast.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
