Works are continuing at Station Street, Officer<\/a>, where the level crossing was permanently closed to traffic and boom gates removed in May 2024 as part of the Victorian Government commitment to make the Pakenham Line level crossing free<\/a> by 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/span>With the new Brunt Road bridge in Beaconsfield opening in April 2024, drivers now have a safer, more reliable place to cross the rail line. Vehicles can also continue to use nearby Siding Avenue, Officer underpass to safely cross the rail line.<\/p>\n

Crews are working to build a new pedestrian connection on the north of the rail line, connecting existing paths on either side of Station Street and improving access to Officer Station.<\/p>\n

Works are progressing to build a shared use path along Officer South Road, improving safety and access to Officer Station.<\/p>\n

Works at Station Street, Officer will continue until late 2024 to improve the road condition, including signage and lighting, as well as planting 3000 new trees, shrubs and grasses.<\/p>\n

Closing this level crossing improves safety \u2013 with 6 near misses at the level crossing since 2012 \u2013 it will reduce congestion and contribute to a level crossing free Pakenham Line by 2025.<\/p>\n

Across Melbourne, the state government is removing 110 level crossings by 2030, with 84 already gone for good.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
