The reason for that is the lack of liquidity. Previously, the company\u2019s management board and worker trade unions demanded the urgent payment of the so-called \u2018coal decision\u2019 compensation to \u201chelp save the company\u201d.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-55223\"><\/span>In a statement, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/business\/2024\/08\/01\/restructuring-of-pkp-cargo-to-last-a-couple-of-years\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">under-restructuring company<\/a> underlined that it will ensure that outstanding payments are made \u201con the first possible date, together with the interest due.\u201d In other words, those payments are not lost but postponed until further notice.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"readmore\">\n<div class=\"readmore-item\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/railfreight\/2024\/07\/18\/polish-minister-pkp-cargo-has-no-right-to-go-bankrupt\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/ANP-496827098-128x128.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"readmore-thumbnail\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"readmore-info\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/railfreight\/2024\/07\/18\/polish-minister-pkp-cargo-has-no-right-to-go-bankrupt\/\" class=\"readmore-title\">Polish minister: \u201cPKP Cargo has no right to go bankrupt\u201d<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>This latest development indicates PKP Cargo&#8217;s dire financial situation. Previously, the company\u2019s management board and worker trade unions demanded the urgent payment of the \u2018coal decision\u2019 compensation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/railfreight\/2024\/07\/24\/pkp-cargo-appeals-to-government-for-coal-decision-compensation\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Despite having appealed to the government before for this matter<\/a>, PKP Cargo\u2019s board needs to see quicker actions taken towards its salvation since the clock is ticking.<\/p>\n<p>The urgency is also apparent in the recent statements of Marcin Wojew\u00f3dka, acting president of PKP Cargo: \u201cMonth by month, we collect funds to pay salaries. Our goal is to fix the situation &#8211; in the financial, market, rolling stock and organisational areas. We are on the right track, but without money, it may not be possible, and the company lacks it,\u201d he underlined, hinting at the \u2018coal decision\u2019 compensation.<\/p>\n<h2>Relocation deal for 200 more employees<\/h2>\n<p>On a more positive note, PKP Cargo also signed Letters of Intent with PGE Energetyka Kolejowa SA, one of Poland\u2019s largest energy companies, and WARS, a passenger transport service company, for the transfer of 200 of its employees. Each company will absorb 100 employees. PKP Cargo has reached <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/business\/2024\/06\/19\/hundreds-of-pkp-cargo-employees-to-be-moved-to-passenger-operator\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">similar deals for the transfer of its workforce<\/a> with other companies, too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Polish state-owned operator PKP Cargo appears unable to pay \u201cJuly\u2019s salaries, retirement severance pays and jubilee bonuses\u201d to a group of \u201cseveral hundred employees\u201d.
