Further strike action undertaken by airport staff in Germany has driven a notable number of canceled flights.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Primarily impacting Frankfurt Airport (FRA)<\/a> and Munich Airport (MUC)<\/a>, a total of 1,043 flights were canceled between February 7-8 2024. We used our data to look at the airlines affected and the total number of cancellations at 4 German airports. This follows our review of the impact of last week\u2019s strikes<\/a> in Germany.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Our data reveals that, in addition to Frankfurt (FRA) <\/a>and Munich (MUC)<\/a>,\u00a0Hamburg (HAM)<\/a> and\u00a0Bremen (BRE)<\/a> also saw notable cancellations caused by strikes between February 07-08.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Most impacted was Frankfurt, where a total of 593 flights were canceled, representing 28% of departures and 29% of arrivals. Munich saw 33% of departures and arrivals canceled, and Bremen 25% and 23% respectively.<\/p>\n

Cancellations at Frankfurt and Munich alone represented 16% of cancellations in Germany as a whole.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cancellations at these airports directly impacted 1043 flights operated by 20 airlines. The most affected airlines by number of canceled flights were Lufthansa (LH)<\/a>,\u00a0Air Dolomiti (EN)<\/a>, Condor (DE)<\/a> and British Airways (BA)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

German airlines saw the most impact.\u00a0Lufthansa<\/a> canceled a total of 896 flights between February 7-8, effectively 43% of the airline\u2019s schedule. The majority of these flights were destined for European destinations.<\/p>\n

A small number of longer distance flights operated by carriers including United<\/a> and Air Canada<\/a> were also cancelled.<\/p>\n
